About the Belize Recyclers and Waste Management Association (BRWMA)

Our Story

Established in 2024, the Belize Recyclers and Waste Management Association (BRWMA) is a not-for-profit organization, committed to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of Belize’s recycling and waste management sector. BRWMA stands as the first association of its kind in the region, dedicated to creating a cohesive and collaborative environment where public and private sector stakeholders can unite for a common cause.

BRWMA was founded through the generous support of the UK Government’s Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) with the British High Commissioner to Belize, being our inaugural Patron. The initiative was spearheaded by the Department of the Environment and supported by the Belize Solid Waste Management Authority. Waste Recycling Environment Network (WREN) was engaged to support the establishment of the association. This initiative saw the concerted efforts of numerous members from the private sector, including recyclers, waste collectors, distributors, and environmental advocates, who played a critical role in bringing BRWMA to life.

Our Purpose

The primary goal of BRWMA is to unify private and public sector stakeholders to foster effective collaboration in the recycling and waste management sector. By bringing together diverse voices and expertise, BRWMA aims to drive innovation, share best practices, and promote sustainable waste management solutions that benefit all of Belize.

To foster collaborative private-public partnerships for the development of Belize’s recycling and waste management sector, providing a secure platform for stakeholders to work together towards common goals.
